Illustrations for the Toldi, a tale-poem of János Arany
"Like shepherd's fire's glowing in autumnal dark night,
Flaming in the farness: in the plain a spot-light:
Face of Miklós Toldi flashes before my eyes
Just for nine-ten descents in the past olden times.
Methinks as I could see his robust figure there,
In ravaging combat his lance-thrusts in welter,
And as I could hear his thundering and wild cry,
That you could believe now: this must be the Lord's ire."
